D-Box @ Home is a Rich Gamer’s Dream
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Hardware, Previews, The Shit to Get
Right now, only a few elite gamers will be able to afford the D-Box Home Gamer but those lucky bastards are going to experience gaming at a whole new level. How incredible must it be to sit in these chairs and play Grid, (easily the best game on the list to try this out with IMHO). Feeling the rumble and the bouncing must be an experience when played with the right game. Sadly it is PC only right now. However if they tapped into a larger console market they may find an undiscovered audience. I would love to play Forza III with a 3 LCD wrap around setup.

The site needs a UX overhaul and the information is sparce. I still can’t find out if the same D-Box gaming system can be used as the D-Box home theater version. It seems like a no brainer, but I couldn’t find confirmation of that. Regardless, the video had me sold. If you can afford the D-Box GPH-120 of $2999, more power to you. It must be a hell of a ride.
Full list of titles after the jump.

MMO News Roundup - 6-9-09
Posted by HCG Dreadsorrow | Filed under MMO News Roundup, News, Rumors
Kotaku has a nice selection of screenshots up for Final Fantasy XIV Online. Yes, very pretty, but it’s not worth the cost of upgrading my aging PC, and I’m not shelling out for a PS3 for any reason. So I’m gonna give this one a big NO. But if you want to look at some very nice images of what is sure top be as tiresome a grindfest as the previous online FF game, then click here.
There is a rumor that Atari’s Cryptic Studios was developing an MMO based on Neverwinter Nights, aimed to go live in 2011. Click here for the article on Variety. Personally I don’t see the point of a Neverwinter Nights MMO. The whole allure of Neverwinter Nights and its sequel was that it had that awesome toolset for users to get their hands dirty building their own content. I used the tools from both games, and they were extremely easy to use and get something of good quality. Plus, the community of both games was so huge and prolific, It would take you literally years to play through all the campaigns people have crafted to share freely online. Not only that, but these games are to only ones made, to my knowledge, that allow players to actually build a persistent world right out of the box. That being said, I will repeat my earlier statement. What is the point of making an MMO out of this license? Time will tell I suppose, providing the rumor is true.

Paco’s Quick Picks: E3 2009 H-Z
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Previews, Quickies
Having digested so much media in such little time, you begin to sift through everything and find the nuggets. These are the nuggets that I want to take a deeper look at (so far) from E3 2009 - Part Deux.
- Halo 3: ODST [Call of Duty + Master Chief-less Halo? I'm sold. This series hasn't done anything for me since the first half of Halo 2.]
- Halo: Reach [Does this announcement mean yearly Halo games? Sounds good, just keep Treyarch away.
- Joy Ride [Love this idea, I'm glad to see someone else taking a stab at MarioKart but Joy Ride has a mountain to climb. Especially with Mod Nation looking so strong. Avatar use is a cool idea, though]
- Jumpgate Evolution [I'm throwing this on the list just because I know Dreadsorrow is excited for it and I trust his MMO opinion]
- Last Guardian [My favorite PS3 announcement. I was hooked immediately and I don't know if I can stop calling that kitten dragon "Falcor"]
- Left 4 Dead 2 [WTF happened to our DLC? Will the community backlash against Valve for not supporting the original the way they said they would? Me thinks, yes.]
- Lego Rock Band [Useless and self-indulgent]

- E3# Bioshock 2. Too soon for me? I can’t shake the Aladdin 2 and Disney Sequel-itis feeling I get when I see it. Hopefully I ‘m wrong. -Paco #
- #E3 The Last Guardian is really sticking out. I can’t stop coming back to The Last Guardian in my head. - Paco #
- Assassin’s Creed 2 + Italy = Yes, have some. #
- $9.99 Final Fantasy VII Downloadable on PSN/Sony Store. Old save games work too? Impressive, indeed. #
- #E3 compared to Nintendo, Sony gave the Gettysburg Address today. -Paco #
- #E3 not a fan of cinematic trailers rather than ingame engines in “trailers”. SWOldRepublic & AssassinsCreed2 were beautiful but… -Paco #
- #E3 hey look Sony is showing Gran turismo 5 for the third year in a row… The ICO/Shadow of Colossus crowd will love Last Guardian. #
- #E3 Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker for PSP announced. Gran Turismo as well. But we’ve seen PSP GT in dev for at least 4 years now. #
- #E3 Sony conference: announced PSPGo @ $249?!?! Seriously? Really? Didn’t you guys learn? #
- #e3 ever think you’d see the day when sony was the underdog? At least they have Queen playing. It’s already better than Nintendo’s #

Kojima teaming up with Mercurysteam on Next-Gen Castlevania. Whoops, need to change my pants again…
Posted by HCG Musashi | Filed under News
Back when Kojima-sama announced that MSG: Guns of the Patriots would be the last title he would be working on and was “moving on to new projects”, I expected (well, hoped) a next-gen Zone of Enders wasn’t far away.
While I would love to see Orbital Frames in all their HD glory, I certainly can’t complain for one second about this über team-up.
Don’t get me wrong - Koji Igarashi is still the man when it comes to the Castlevania franchise, but I CANNOT WAIT to see what the great Kojima has in store for us with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

Paco’s Quickie Review: Resident Evil 5 - The Great Do-over
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Quickies, Reviews
This is a prime example why our transparent style of video game opinions reflect a more true review. I was wrong.
There is no easier way to say it. I am a born again Resident Evil 5 evangelist. With one caveat - In multiplayer only. IN MULTIPLAYER ONLY. So maybe I was right after all. At least halfway right?
