Star Trek Online - Atari Takes a Massive Steamer on its Customers and Fans

Folks, have you been reading what has been going on with Star Trek Online? Holy crap, this is the biggest bullshit in MMOs EVER, EVER!
This pretty much says it all.
If you haven’t been following the recent events, here’s the condensed version that I have been able to piece together:
Either Sunday or Monday, not sure which, Atari posted on their website a promotional offer for new subscribers to STO. The deal was, they dropped the price $10, and increased the included free time from the standard 30 days to 90 days. This, remember, is only 3 weeks after the game went live. This means that people who bought upon release it or pre-ordered it would be paying for 2 months while people who bought the deal 3 weeks after the release would still be playing their free time.
Needless to say, the existing players were pretty pissed off, and a shitstorm hit the official forums. Atari, realizing that they got too greedy, retracted the offer. Problem is though, a lot of people had already bought it. So what they did next will doubtlessly go down in history as the biggest f**k the customers bullshit move ever. They retracted the deal from people who had already purchased it, and then pretended it never existed.
Problem is though, people have obviously saved e-receipts, screencaptures, etc, showing that it most certainly did exist, and showing exactly what they had bought. Atari is refusing refunds of any kind, still trying to pretend the offer never existed. (Offer? What offer?). In addition, they are deleting any posts from the official forums mentioning it and banning any player that does talk about it.
Oh, and another thing I have learned. There were several features that were promised for the live release that never made it in, and they are now trying to say that they never promised those features. And to make it all worse, their first content release has been delayed so that people who started playing on day 1 would be past their included 30 days and required to pay for another whole month in order to see the new content.
In all my years of gaming, I have never seen anything even close to this. Even SOE doesn’t begin to approach this level of douchebaggery. I revise my prediction for the life of STO from 1 year, down to less than 6 months. All hands to the escape pods, even Scotty couldn’t save this one.
