Paco’s Quickie: Batman Arkham Asylum
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Games of the Year, Quickies, Reviews
Game of the Year contender. Easily.
My favorite Batman before Arkham was The Adventures of Batman and Robin for SNES. Easily.
Arkham beats the SNES classic. Easily.

Gems O’ The Bin: Legendary
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Gems O' The Bin, Quickies, Reviews, The Shit to Get
Why didn’t this game get more coverage. It’s R.A.D. (So far…) Sure, it’s not Metal Gear Solid 4 or Fallout but what it is, is fun as f**k.
Cool idea. Very cool idea. Like Gargoyles on acid. With a guitar track.
There are many times, where I think about Cloverfield mixed with Undying/Bioshock with fantastical creatures and so far, an engaging story. A steal. Grab it now, as it’s dropped below the $20 mark (and even $15 in some areas.) You won’t regret the purchase.

Quickie Microsoft 360 Steering Wheel - W.O.W. Wow.

I am so sorry that I waited this long to buy this great piece of hardware. IF you love racers. IF you like breaking the 4th wall. If you have the space. BUY IT.

Paco’s Quickie Review: Magic the Gathering - Duel of the Planeswalker
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Quickies, Reviews
Love. It.
Addicted to it.
Hate it. Why the hell can’t I edit my deck or at least remove some core cards? Why is there no XBox Live version of the Co-op campaign?
Can’t. Stop. Playing.
Best $10 I’ve spent. Bring on the DLC, but only if I can edit my decks and ranked quitters are penalized.

Paco’s Quickie Review: Ghostbusters
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Quickies, Reviews
Ghostbusters has been a long time coming. We posted our first piece, a leaked Youtube video, way back in February of 2007. Now only 29 short months later we have Terminal Reality’s labor of love, Ghostbusters the Video Game. And it was worth the wait, minus one giant problem.

Paco’s Quickie Review: Resident Evil 5 - The Great Do-over
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Quickies, Reviews
This is a prime example why our transparent style of video game opinions reflect a more true review. I was wrong.
There is no easier way to say it. I am a born again Resident Evil 5 evangelist. With one caveat - In multiplayer only. IN MULTIPLAYER ONLY. So maybe I was right after all. At least halfway right?

GamerTalk Review: Destroy All Humans: Path of the Furon
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under GamerTalk, Quickies, Reviews
Paco: “Do you think that this is the type of game that needs more work and would benefit from greater depth? Or has this sort of franchise met its full potential?”
KP1gL37: “DAH has met its full potential. It is what it is.”
Paco: “So even with the bugs?”
KP1gL37: “Even with the bugs. The people that would like this don’t care about the bugs.”
Paco: “Yeah, I didn’t care about the bugs. Destroy All Humans was a $10 game. I feel like I got my money’s worth. It sounds stupid but, because it’s so mindless, I find it relaxing. Hard day? Play some Destroy All Humans, put it back down a half hour later. Reminds of Hulk: Ultimate Destruction in overall feeling.”

KP1gL37’s Review: Resident Evil 5 - Exceptionally Underwhelming
Posted by HCG KP1gL37 | Filed under Reviews
I wanted to love Resident Evil 5, I really did. Ask anyone I know: whenever asked the obligatory “what’s your favorite video game of all time?” question, I ALWAYS answer: Resident Evil 4. That’s why I was waiting with baited breath for Resident Evil 5 to finally hit the scene. I was convinced that my all time fav was about to be dethroned by the latest and greatest installment in the series. Well color me disappointed when I actually got around to playing Resident Evil 5 only to find that it was resoundingly…meh. In fact, the first time I played it, I was so underwhelmed, I put it away and waited a month to give it another go.

Paco’s Quickie Review: Resident Evil 5
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Quickies, Reviews
Even though Resident Evil 4 redefined the series and helped evolve the genre, I can’t help but where the horror in “Survival horror” has gone. I want to love RE5. I really do. I loved 4, Veronica, Resident Evil 2 and of course the genre-defining original, but somehow this fifth installment just doesn’t grab me the way the other have. I am going to try again, but I’m to the point where I am done trying to force myself to like games that I just don’t.

Paco’s Quickie Review: Ace Combat 6
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Quickies, Reviews
In line with my person revival of racing games, I decided to try my hand at revisiting another old favorite of mine - Flight Sims. Not really sims but more like TIE Fighter and Wing Commander. Wing Commander III was the first one I played and TIE Fighter was my next. Wing Commander IV and X-Wing and X-wing vs TIE Fighter. My Gateway Pentium 120 and I spent many hours flying missions together. Back then graphics weren’t taking the technical leaps they are today and it was easier to help your imagination fill in the gaps. Now, everything needs to look so perfect and technically accurate we often lose that opportunity to connect at a deeper level. I found it hard to connect with Ace Combat 6 for a number of reasons and I’ll be moving on to HAWX. Read on to found out why.

Return of the Racer - The Revival of a Genre
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Editorials, Reviews
At least for me it feels like a revival to me. I don’t know if it was the glory of Burnout Paradise or my own rekindled flame for cars, but once I started to look for a good racer I had to too much to choose from. So I am choosing them all.
My friends could see it coming and so could KP1gL37. I was obsessed. I was an addict.
And it was all Burnout Paradise’s fault.
Dead Space came in and went out. Resident Evil 5 tried to no avail. So did Fallout 3. But they all failed where Burnout succeeded. It made me think about it all the time. It was in my blood like few games have done in the past. But it was more than Burnout Paradise. This was a Racing Revival.
My recent car purchase gave me the chance to do what I have never been able to do before - race my own car in a game. Tear down the 4th wall by tying the real world to the digital one through simulated experiences ripped from reality. I looked up my car to see if any of the new racers had it listed in their car listings and was pleasantly surprised to find that I had plenty of options to choose from, in fact I had all of them to choose from. So I decided to try them all and really see if simulator racing does the job it claims to when they say they want to recreate the experience as real as possible.
I am here to tell you that yes, in fact they do and it is mind blowing.
Over the coming weeks I will be reviewing all of the racers currently on the market. From Grid to GTA Prologue. I will be playing them all, back-to-back.

Gems of the Bin: Unreal Tournament III (UT3)
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Gems O' The Bin, Reviews, The Shit to Get
Unreal Tournament 3 is the most recent predecessor in a long line of classic shooters. That world class lineage is a hard to live up to and most people didn’t think that this iteration falls short. I am completely in the opposite camp. I loved UT3 and felt it was the best $8 I’ve spent on a game in a long long while.
