So it looks like Steam continues to pick up…um…momentum. Their latest get is some of the myriad of MMOs run by Sony Online. The offerings include Everquest, Everquest II, Pirates of the Burning Sea, Vanguard Saga of Heroes, and more. You get the client software as well as the usual first 30 days free. Well, not free, that’s just marketing bullshit. You’re paying for it all right. Plus there are discounts offered on a couple of the titles, so you can probably get them for less than what you would pay in a brick and mortar. Click here for some details.
OK, so CCP has their fingers stuck into more than the EVE Online pie. They are also in the process of cooking up another MMO titled World of Darkness. Based in the horror genre, WoD will have werewolves, vampires, and magic-users of some kind. Blah blah blah, huge fan base, blah blah blah, appeal to different types of gamers, blah blah… Click here for details. Or don’t, I don’t care either way.
Beckett Massive Online Gamer Magazine is running the voting for their 3rd Annual Reader’s Choice Awards. Categories on the ballot include:
- - Best New MMO Release of 2008
- - Best MMO of 2008
- - Best Fantasy MMO of 2008
- - Best Sci-Fi/Historical MMO of 2008
- - Best Expansion/Addition of 2008
- - Best MMO Trailer Released in 2008
- - Most Anticipated MMO
So click here to go and vote. Just make sure that you vote exactly as I did. Because you should always remember, democracy is great until people don’t vote the way you want them to.
I would give up downloading my girlfriends every night just to play this next one, and hopefully I won’t have much longer to wait. Cheyenne Mountain is still working on getting Stargate Worlds into my sticky hands, and I can hardly contain myself. Just to give us a glimpse of some of the memorable NPCs that we’ll run into, they’ve released this nifty little image. Wow, Teal’c sure does have big feet. I guess that means he also has a HUGE…um…staff weapon.
