Tomorrow the EVE Online expansion Apocrypha goes live. While I have no particular interest in the game any more (as I have often stated) I played long enough to know the drill for any patch day, let alone a major one. Set a long skill, log off, and fire up your console for a couple of days. Times like this are an excellent opportunity to knock a few days off of that ‘battleship 5′ you’ve been thinking about. OK, I know this is probably a lot of hype without anything particularly concrete, but I so very much like the sound of this I simply had to share. A new developer has opened shop in Austin (where else), and this new developer is named Thriller New Media. The summary mission statement of the new kid on the block is “Thriller New Media Fuses Online Military Games with Social Networking”. Yeah, I felt it too. Although I suppose it could be some sort of unholy bastard child of Facebook and Call of Duty, From reading the ooo-ra propaganda on their site, I think it will be a lot more robust than than. Look forward to a new project or two to be announced soon. Unless that is, unless it already has been and I’ve just been too wrapped up in my own s**t to catch it. A bunch of water-head retards called Change4Life have decided to pick on video games as the principle reason for childhood obesity and early death brought on by a sedentary lifestyle. Just an odd question here. How do we know that the kid they are exploiting in the ad isn’t a straight-A student and avid basketball player taking a break and enjoying some electronic entertainment? That’s right, we don’t. The clear implication is that people who play video games are lazy fucks that will get fat, get stupid, and get dead at an early age. Speaking for myself only, I have played video games for more than 30 years. I also have a long professional career that has nothing to do with video games. My fellow HCG contributers also boast similar pedigrees. We are hardly “nothing” you distorting, lying smacktards. There is a vast difference between a passion for games and an obsession for them. But then I wouldn’t expect agenda-driven pieces of s**t like you to even care about the difference. Click here to see the disgrace that is their ad.
Lets finish up with a long-promised expansion to Neverwinter Nights 2, the Mysteries of Westgate Adventure Pack. Why do I mention this here among MMO news? Well, for those of you who have never played NWN2 or its predecessor, there is no other game that players can take right out of the box, and build their own persistent world from the ground up. But while this expansion contains mostly a single-player campaign, it also packs new assets that will become available in the world editor as well. So get your download clicking finger ready, and grab this one when it comes out soon. And if you don’t have it already, pick yourself up a copy of Neverwinter Nights 2, and start building your world.
