The long-awaited expansion to Lord of the Rings Online will go live on 18 November. In fact, that’s going to be a heck of a week for MMOs, as the WoW expansion goes live a few days earlier.

Behold Durin’s Bane!
Posted by HCG Dreadsorrow | Filed under News, Previews, Trailers
Ten Ton Hammer has recently posted a some goodies of their exclusive play session with Mines of Moria (I hate them so much, bitches). They got a lot of juicy screenshots showing off some of the very nice architecture of Dwarrowdelf. You can check out the screenshots here. And don’t miss their play session report, because of course they got to play it too.
But they also have a very nice video of the grand-daddy of all bosses, the numero uno badass of the ultimate dungeon, the one, the only, THE BALROG! There was another video up a few weeks ago on another site, but that was taken with what looked like a cell phone, and it was the suck.
You’ll have to look at it on their site to watch the video, because they don’t have an embed link and they want to drive traffic. So give them what they want, then when someone with more initiative than me rips the stream and posts it to youtube, you can ignore them again.

XSEED announces US release for Vanillaware’s ‘Oboro Muramasa Youtouden’
Posted by HCG Musashi | Filed under News, Previews
Some good news for us Wii owners who have felt a little…well “neglected” these past 2 years.
XSEED Games has posted a press release on their homepage announcing that they are pairing up with Marvelous Entertainment to publish Vanillaware’s upcoming opus - Oboro Muramasa Youtouden (朧村正妖刀伝) [Obscure Legend of Mysterious Sword Muramasa] in the US as Muramasa: The Demon Blade.
If you’ve played Vanillaware’s previous 2-D masterpiece, Odin Sphere, then you have a good idea what Muramasa is all about; 2-D RPG Action with uttterly draw-dropping graphics and gorgeous sound. Upgrading to the Wii should allow Vanilla to squeeze even more kick-ass in this time around.
XSEED also announced a pretty vague release date - 2009 - not much to go on. On the bright side, Muramasa will be hitting Japan before the end of 2008; hopefully I won’t have long to wait for a reason to hook my Wii back up.

All Points Bulletin - The Mayhem Begins to Reveal Itself

APB is the cops and robbers MMO in development by Realtime Worlds. That description does not really do it justice, as it is not going to be quite so quaint as ‘cops and robbers’. Indeed, it will be somewhat more intense than a game that the neighborhood kids play.
The developer is sending out monthly newsletters chronicling their progress, and like a complete dumbass I forgot to sign up for it. I suck.

LOTRO - First screenshots of the Warden and Rune-keeper
Posted by HCG Dreadsorrow | Filed under News, Previews
After my daily adventures in a place I’d rather not go, where I make someone else rich, I come across these delightful images of the two new character classes coming soon in the Mines of Moria expansion to Lord of the Rings Online.
The Rune-keeper and the Warden will be available for play with the new expansion, so you LOTRO players can get ready for overcrowded noob areas once again, just like the early days of the game just going live.
