…the PS3 is dominating Blu Ray player sales? According to recent stats, the PS3 accounts for 70% of all Blu Ray players sold in the US. Honestly, I can’t act too surprised, because if it weren’t for the Blu Ray player, I don’t know that Paco and I would EVER turn on our PS3. Full story: Badassgamer
…casual gamers may soon be getting some online game help via Nintendo? The company recently filed a patent for an in-game system in which users can get help and tips right within their game through an AI character. Creator Shigery Miyamoto says it was created to “keep players from becoming frustrated and giving up on a game.” Ok Nintendo, bring on the landslide of n00bs, as long as they stay on the Wii and away from us hardcore gamers. …analysts are predicting a price drop to the Playstation 3 this spring? According to securities analyst Michael Pachter, Sony will likely drop the price of the PS3 from $399 to $299 around April of 2009 to combat less than stellar sales. Now that Sony has found a way to reduce production costs, a price drop seems like a logical next step. Pachter also expects an Xbox 360 Pro price drop down to $249 at or before E3 2009 this June. …Adam Sessler was recently bumped up to Editor In Chief of Games content over at G4? In his new role, the X-Play host will be in charge of all game content for the cable network, in addition to his roles on and off-air for X-Play. Congrats, Adam. HCG Dreadsorrow’s Quickie: Iron Man

This movie was quite simply the best one I have seen in 2008. I know this may upset people that thought The Dark Knight was better than The Godfather 1, 2, and 3 put together, but you are wrong. With no Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight would already be in the giant box at Walmart reserved for crappy movies that no one else wants either.
Iron man was a far better movie in my opinion, and my opinion is the only one that matters.
So anyway, along comes the obvious video game tie-in with the movie, and I simply had to download the demo from XBox Live and give it a try. Well, I loved the demo so much that I went out and plunked down $60 bucks for the game. Want to know what I thought about it? Of course you do.

New Screenshots of Heavy Rain For the PS3

Heavy Rain was one of the very first games I saw for the PS3 back at E3 2006, and at the time it blew me away. Yes, we only got to see a few minutes of a cutscene, but DAMN it looked amazing. It was about the only thing that impressed me about Sony at the PS3 booth that year. Yes, this game has been in the works for awhile. A few new screenshots have surfaced, and they look as slick as they did back in ‘06. Let’s just hope we don’t have to wait another 2 years for this one! More amazing shots after the jump.

LOTRO - First screenshots of the Warden and Rune-keeper

After my daily adventures in a place I’d rather not go, where I make someone else rich, I come across these delightful images of the two new character classes coming soon in the Mines of Moria expansion to Lord of the Rings Online.
The Rune-keeper and the Warden will be available for play with the new expansion, so you LOTRO players can get ready for overcrowded noob areas once again, just like the early days of the game just going live.

I came home from work today, and was looking forward to a relaxing evening of downloading porn. Then I happened across the new screenshots of the only upcoming MMO that could possibly drag me away from Lord of the Rings Online, and that MMO that will pwn the scifi genre is Stargate Worlds.
After drooling over the new screenshots and concept art, I dont need to download porn tonight. I guess the red-headed asian midgits will have to wait for another day.

Manhunt 2 Trailer and Screenshots

We’ve got the brand new Manhunt 2 Trailer for all of you hardcore gamers that have enough common sense to know that Manhunt 2 is not a murder simulator.
Looking up Manhunt 2 on wikipedia, I was suprised to find out that Manhunt 2 has actually been in development since 2004, shortly after the release of the first game. However, Jack Thompson’s rhetoric bullshit delayed development due to his ever-frivolous lawsuits and ambulance-chasing.
I am not a “fan” per-say of the original, not because of the subject matter, but because the repetitive nature of the gameplay. You can only sufficate so many NPCs with blue plastic bags before you start asking for more. Hopefully the sequel will take the franchise in a new direction and alleviate the problems that plagued the original, take a look at the trailer and see. They seem to be going for more of a “wronged-man” scenario than a running-man one. More than anything, I am most impressed that Rockstar somehow got this on to the kid/parent-friendly Wii.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance Downloadable Content Details

Our love for Marvel Ultimate Alliance is well documented. Hell, we even wrote our first quickie guide for Marvel ultimate Alliance. But color us shocked when we first heard that new content was coming almost 6 months after the game’s release.
We have no idea how they pulled it off but Activision has given the fans exactly what was missing from Marvel Ultimate Alliance; The Hulk. The villians are an awesome addition and the other heroes are going to be a blast, but nothing compares to the Hulk. When the game was originally released everyone complained that Colussus was really the Hulk but with a skin change and that Activision couldn’t secure the rights to the Hulk since Vivendi still owned him in video game form from the under-rated Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. Somehow activision worked around that and starting April 10th we will finally be able to play as the not-so-jolly green giant. Did we mention Venom is now playable too?
I, for one, can’t wait to see the alternative outfits for the new additions. Will there be a Grey Hulk? Or Carnage? The possiblities are mind-bending. What about team bonuses? Will the new heroes be represented as new teams as well? Could you mix Cyclops in with 3 other X-Men and still get the bonus? Or could you mix just Spider-Woman, Spider-Man and Venom? One last thing. How are they going to distribute 250 more points if the content is only new characters? Is there a possibility for new Villian missions or new comic missions? Do villian teams get bonuses too? All of our questions will be answered on April 10th.

New Alien Syndrome Screenshots for PSP and Nintendo Wii

Keeping up with the SEGA “Revival” theme, we have fresh screenshots from their upcoming third-person title: Alien Syndrome. As you may remember we posted about Alien Syndrome originally, way back in December, but now we have a ton of screenshots, a wallpaper and a new gameplay video.
For those hardcore gamers out there that still remember the original on the SEGA Master System, we applaud you. Alien Syndrome on the SMS was basically Gauntlet with Aliens; blantant 20 Centrury Fox, Ripley-esque Aliens. Which is ironic, considering that SEGA has now partnered with Fox for a revival of the Alien franchise as a video game property.
