I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for the Ghostbusters game to see the light of day (what can I say, I’m a child of the 80’s.) Now that the game has been picked up by Atari, it looks like it’s back to full speed ahead for the release in June of 09, and I couldn’t be more excited! Bring on the Stay-Puft marshmallow man! Check out the recently released trailer and drool along with me.

Need for Speed: Undercover Trailer. Bored now.
Posted by HCG Paco | Filed under Trailers

Are you even trying? Seriously. I LOVE Need for Speed. I can dig out my old 3DO and listen to Rusty Cage to bring back the nostalgia of this series. Most Wanted really surprised me. I still play it to this day. But you lost me at Carbon. Some gamers we know didn’t feel it so I didn’t give it a chance. So I need a Undercover to wow me. Prove to me why you should get my money over the other avalanche of games this Christmas. But showing me a trailer without showing me gameplay? That tells me you either aren’t confident in your game or you are too confident in your marketing department. Either way, you should’ve tried harder.
View the actual gameplay vs what they showed in the trailer after the jump.

Anarchy Online - Still Free, And Soon A New Engine
Posted by HCG Dreadsorrow | Filed under News, Trailers
The venerable sci-fi MMO that was the poster child for horrible launches, has long since outgrown that extremely shitty beginning. Over the past 7+ years, Funcom has built a huge game of otherworldly sci-fi goodness that would be worth paying for. It’s just a bonus that you don’t have to, as it is free to play.
It’s a different sort of free play program than other MMOs, where you get to go adventuring with a stick and a cotton shirt, and if you want anything stronger, or want to reach past level 2, you have to pay up. Nosireebob, This is a genuine free to play game, where for no frakin money at all, you get to play all of the content in the original game, as well as the Notum Wars expansion. They are banking that once you get hooked, and after several months just to get through all the free stuff, you will want to pony up for the rest of the game.

Spider-Man Web of Shadows Trailer
Posted by HCG KP1gL37 | Filed under News, Trailers
Most of the Spiderman games to date have left me feeling a little unfulfilled (and slightly motion sick). Check out the trailer below for Spider-Man: Web of Shadows. This one may actually turn around my opinion of spidey games.

Portal: Prelude Official Trailer and Download Link
Posted by HCG KP1gL37 | Filed under News, Trailers
If you haven’t read about Portal: Prelude already, it is the unofficial prequel to Orange Box runaway hit, Portal. Portal Prelude was created by a student named Nicolas Grevet who was a big fan of Portal, and wanted to see more done with it. He eventually enlisted the help of two friends, Jeremy Barbe and Marc Bidoul and in nine months, they produced the complete, polished game all on their own.
The game revolves around the pre-GlaDOS world, when test subjects were monitored by real Aperture Science employees. The game is free to download on their website, portalprelude.com. Judging by the trailer, this looks like a pretty fun game for fans of the original, created by some hardcore fans. Very cool, gents. Very cool indeed. That’s what being a hardcore gamer is all about.

Behold Durin’s Bane!
Posted by HCG Dreadsorrow | Filed under News, Previews, Trailers
Ten Ton Hammer has recently posted a some goodies of their exclusive play session with Mines of Moria (I hate them so much, bitches). They got a lot of juicy screenshots showing off some of the very nice architecture of Dwarrowdelf. You can check out the screenshots here. And don’t miss their play session report, because of course they got to play it too.
But they also have a very nice video of the grand-daddy of all bosses, the numero uno badass of the ultimate dungeon, the one, the only, THE BALROG! There was another video up a few weeks ago on another site, but that was taken with what looked like a cell phone, and it was the suck.
You’ll have to look at it on their site to watch the video, because they don’t have an embed link and they want to drive traffic. So give them what they want, then when someone with more initiative than me rips the stream and posts it to youtube, you can ignore them again.
